BIOGRAPHY

  Leonor Swyngedouw is a cellist from Liège, currently based in Berlin, Germany.

 

  She began her musical training in Belgium and earned her bachelor's degree at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels under the guidance of Marie Hallynck, where she was also awarded the Heritage Prize. Continuing her musical journey, she joined the Hochschule für Musik in Hanover, Germany, in 2018, studying with Professor Tilmann Wick. In 2021, she obtained her Soloist Master's degree with highest honors and decided to further her studies at the University of the Arts in Berlin under the direction of Professor Konstantin Heidrich.

 

  Leonor excels as both a soloist and a chamber musician, while also gaining valuable experience as an orchestral musician. She is regularly invited to perform at renowned festivals such as the Stavelot Festival, the Classissimo and Musicorum festivals in Brussels, the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival in Finland, and the Tieschlerei Chamber Music Concerts at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin. 

 

  She has had the opportunity to perform as a soloist in various prestigious concert halls, including the Philharmonic Hall in Liège and the Funkhaus in Halberg. Additionally, she has recorded for the Wallonia Festivals and collaborated with artists such as violinist Sylvia Huang and organist Edward van Marsenille. She also participated in the "Alba Sessions" in collaboration with Musiq3.

 

  In 2021, she was selected by the UNESCO City of Music, in collaboration with the Künstlerhaus in Hanover, to record a concert broadcast on German television H1. That same year, Leonor joined the prestigious Deutsche Oper Berlin orchestra as an academy member.

 

  During the summer of 2023, Leonor embarked on a concert tour in South America with pianist Konstantina Vidalaki, performing as a soloist with the Cusco Symphony Orchestra and the Arequipa Symphony Orchestra in Peru.

 

  A laureate of several international competitions, Leonor is currently a scholarship recipient of the "Yehudi Menuhin – Live Music Now Berlin" and "Paul-Hindemith-Gesellschaft Berlin" foundations.


     Leonor has enriched her training in masterclasses with renowned soloists and pedagogues such as Maria Kliegel, Peter Bruns, Yovan Markovitch, Pieter Wispelwey, Marc Coppey, Vladimir Perlin, David Cohen, Martii Rousi and Gregor Horsch.

   She is currently playing on a cello by Lorenzo Ventapane on loan from the Hannover University of Music.
